My love of learning goes back to my own childhood where, from an early age, I realised that education was the key to unlocking a world of opportunities. I have carried this with me throughout my career and, as a passionate, energetic and creative practitioner, have worked hard to bring a love of learning to my students, enabling them to acknowledge and feel proud of their progress and outcomes. The magic of seeing a ‘lightbulb moment’ is something which has never lost its spark for me!
During my twenty-year career in education, I have had the pleasure of working with students of all abilities, supporting and nurturing them to identify and reach their own potential. I have had the privilege of teaching classes in both the state and independent sectors; leading a department and curriculum development at one of the top independent prep schools in the country as well as working as Head of School at a small rural primary school in Cornwall. I am now excited to be bringing my enthusiasm and wealth of experience to new students through my tutoring and home education business.
With a degree in History and a passion for the arts, I use a creative approach to teaching that is deeply rooted in my drive to enable students to not only acquire knowledge but also develop a genuine enthusiasm for learning. I use a variety of creative techniques that cater to the individual child to engage and inspire them. I support students in becoming lifelong learners who appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around them, whilst empowering them to think critically and express themselves with confidence.
I have up-to-date safeguarding training, an enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.
I am a member of The Tutor’s Association, a non-profit professional membership body for the tuition industry and the supplementary education sector in the UK and beyond. Membership of this body shows my commitment to providing a high quality, professional service to families.
My patient, friendly and professional approach nurtures students aged
5-16 years and supports them in realising their own potential as they explore concepts at their own pace, either in online or in-person lessons. My creativity and sense of fun are ever-present in lessons, and I pride myself on building students’ confidence so that they feel relaxed in their learning, make progress and build a strong foundation for future learning.
Whether your child needs help with specific subjects, exam preparation, or general academic support, my tutoring and home education service is designed to cater to their individual needs.
I look forward to guiding and empowering your child to achieve their academic goals and flourish in their educational journey.
